Villa Ana Maria

We carefully studied their needs as well as what the old house could offer us in order to give it a unique shape and style.

From the beginning, we kept some original pieces that the owners wanted to preserve.

In the before and after photo of the main facade, you can see how the arches were modified to make them uniform and higher. For this reason, we had to remove the existing rough stone to place it on the new arches.

We also had to demolish walls and enlarge interior spaces to allow more natural light. One of these large walls connected to the outside porch known in the Valencian Community as a “riu rau.” By removing it, we brought natural light to the entire dining area inside the “riu rau” and part of the kitchen, giving the space new life.
Additionally, at the owners’ request, all interior walls and showers were redone with microcement, except for some stone walls from the old house.

We also managed to preserve, treat, and protect all the wooden beams in the house, along with some doors and windows. We rehabilitated the home with the best installations, including underfloor heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and completely new electrical systems.

Furthermore, we replaced the flooring throughout the house, including the exterior, with handmade terracotta tiles. We renovated the four bedrooms, expanding one into a suite with a private bathroom and walk-in closet. We also remodeled a study, a small living room, and a larger one for receiving guests. The bathrooms were all relocated and redesigned. Considering the desired style, we decided to install handmade stone sinks to add a distinctive touch.
The kitchen was rearranged into a U-shape with a central island equipped with all kinds of amenities and appliances, including a hidden laundry area behind the cabinetry.

Finally, we refurbished the garden to create a larger space sufficient for the pool, which offers wonderful views of the valley.

We are satisfied with the result, as we achieved a combination of contemporary materials in a traditional Mediterranean construction and setting.
